CBSE National Yoga Championship 2015 at Jaypee Public School, Greater Noida
CBSE National Yoga Championship from 19-21 October 2015 was inaugurated in Jaypee Public School, Greater Noida with great fanfare and gusto. 850 students from 71 teams and 125 coaches from all over the country participated in this mega event.
The inaugural ceremony started with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Mr. Rajpal Singh, Director FICCI, Sports and Youth Affairs. In his speech he has applauded the Management initiating a huge event in the field of sports. The guest of honour for the occasion was Mr Pulock Chatterjee, Principal Secretary to former Prime Minister. He released the colorful balloons in the air marking the opening of the tournament. He hoisted the CBSE flag which was followed by the march past of the students with the School Band. The special occasion was graced by Mrs. Nandita Gaur (Jaypee Group). The School Principal Mrs. Jaishree Joshi welcomed the guests, coaches, managers and conveyed her good wishes to the participating teams. She emphasized on the importance of Yoga to promote physical, mental and spiritual growth of human-beings. Today the whole world recognizes the tremendous value of yoga as a way of life, and a way to promote global peace and harmony. The participating teams and the students of the host school performed the Surya Namaskar. This was followed by a lively cultural program based on the folk dances of different states show-casing the rich cultural heritage of India. It was appreciated and applauded by everyone present. The lezium display and the aerobic display was enthralled by all. The spectacular yoga performance by the Acharyakulam students left the audience spellbound. The national winners of entire NCR schools were felicitated with a special trophy. The coaches of the participating teams were also given a warm welcome and memento was presented to them. The tournament was also graced by Dr Taraknath, Secretary Indian Yoga Federation and Mr Mrinal Chakravorty, Retd. Commd. S.J Singh( President Education), Vice – President and Manager Retd. Col. D. Chaudhary, Vice- President sports department Shri M. P Sharma, Principal Jaypee Public School, CBSE heads and dignitaries. The event was announced officially open. There seemed to be great zeal and enthusiasm among the students and the participants. The program concluded with the National Anthem.
The championship started off at noon at the respective arenas of the boys and girls. The girls’ championship was held at the multipurpose hall and the boys’ championship was held at the basement in the boys’ lodging wing. All the three days, the school witnessed tremendous synergy, dedication, concentration and sportsmanship. All the children put their optimum energies to be the best. 15 aasanas were performed by both, boys and girls, in group and in individual matches. They displayed tremendous flexibility and concentration. The preliminary and group displays of girls and boys were held from the 19th of October till the end of the first half of 20th of October 2015, followed by individual performance.
Along with sportsmanship, a platform was provided to various children for them to display their talent in the form of a cultural evening held at the Multipurpose Hall on the 20th October 2015. The children shunned their inhibitions as they came up with their hidden talents. It was enthralling to witness the manner in which the children came up and performed various aerobic dances, sang songs and performed various aasans on musical beats. A robotics workshop demonstration was also conducted by Techomentis, which the children and the coaches thoroughly enjoyed.
The final displays for group stages were held from the second half of 20th October 2015 for both, boys and girls simultaneously at their respective arenas. Whereas on 21st Oct, 2015 final individual displays for both boys & girls were held in the multipurpose hall.
Once the matches were done, the CBSE observer Dr. Tariknath Pramanik along with Mr. Mrinal Chakrobarty tallied the scores for the declaration of results. The school was all set to declare the results at the closing and felicitation ceremony. Prior to the same, National School of Drama had presented a stage play on stories that teach us important lessons of life. Then, the children presented dances in the contemporary and folk forms.
Towards the end, the championship results were declared and the winner teams and the children were felicitated by the chief guest Mr. Madhukar Shyam, International Gymnast and guest of honour Mr. Sujit Panigrahi CEO of Fitness 365, Sports Knowledge partner FICCI, Smt. Urvashi Gaur Ji, Chairperson Jaypee Public School, Greater Noida , Cdr. S.J.Singh, President(Education) Jaypee Group and Ms. Jaishree Joshi, Principal of Jaypee Public School, Greater Noida.
